More than one hundred thoroughbred foals are born at Waldorf every season. Few farms in New York foal more, and none watch closer.
Foaling season at Waldorf runs on attention. Mares come into oversized foaling stalls under camera surveillance, with a night watch team on the grounds and a veterinarian minutes away, not an hour. The farm maintains a colostrum bank for the foals who need it, and every mare’s history travels with her from the day she arrives.
This is a working nursery run by a veterinarian. When something goes sideways at two in the morning, the person making the call has spent forty years making exactly that call.
